Synopsis:
Sounds are the first encounter of senses a human being experiences in life. They quickly shape our lives and become the cognitive map of our being; sounds of beloved ones, a summer breeze, a mother’s hymn, a father’s first steps back home, boiling coffee, school bus and a grandmother’s prayer. The moment that changed the face of earth was when sounds were transformed into music, and music became the international language for humans ever since. Music is the spirit of life, and true musicians sacrifice everything they own except for their hearing sense; it is what makes their lives worthwhile and fosters their existential growth. This Art-House short film is about a musician who loses his hearing abilities in a traumatic incident that changes his perspective towards life, hope, community, day-to-day life, and above all: his own self.
The proposed perspective by the director is the staggering aspect of this story: as this Art-House Short will be shot entirely in black and white to intensify the viewers’ focus on sound, all sounds in the film will be music based; dialogues, walking, noise, daily details, and even the sound of the hero’s own breath. This aims to mimic the hero’s world which was once filled with music, and yet now hanging by the memories of music vibrations and dissolving melodies.
The Director is creating a parallel -7 minutes- audio-visual experience, welcoming viewers into a sonically imaginary dimension, where all sounds and voices are mimicked to music sounds and synthetic waves.
