Synopsis
Grace, a witty 13-year-old girl with big dreams and the rare gift of making everyone around her laugh, takes us back to her early childhood years with her close-knit, loving farmer family in Kenya: a time with lots of fun, but also a time when disaster almost split her family apart.
Director Biography - Dina Mwende, Julia Dahr
DINA MWENDE is an experienced film producer and director based in Nairobi, Kenya, who over the last 15 years has had the chance to create, design, produce and manage various developmental edutainment and entertainment projects in East Africa - among them The Know Zone Children’s TV series Kenya/Rwanda and NAFSI the feature film. With a big interest in telling stories that examine our interaction with the world we live in, Dina is passionate about the path where Art, Education and Social Justice intersect: creating content and utilizing art to serve as a vehicle for social change with a keen interest in issues related to children, women and youth. She does this while seeking for powerful collaborations around the globe that can help bring the African story to life.
JULIA DAHR is a visionary director and producer who makes films for an international audience. She created the climate justice documentary Thank You For The Rain with Kisilu Musya, which won 17 awards, was sold to broadcasters in more than 60 countries & won the DocImpact Hi5 award in 2019. She has been included on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list for ‘driving and defining the world of media’. With Grace (2024), directed with Dina Mwende, premiered at IDFA in the youth competition.
