ANHAR, the Arab Network for Human Rights Films and Festivals is a regional project with members from 11 Arab countries. Seven years into its creation, ANHAR continues to be an evolving network working towards connecting activists, filmmakers, festival directors, and spaces for screening human rights films together. To build bridges and encourage the exchange of expertise and capacity building through events, co-productions, and advocacy campaigns.
The network Funded by The National Endowment for Democracy, supports its member’s film festivals with unique film packages ready to screen, and diverse capacity-building programs for its teams.
Namely, the members are: Karama Human Rights Film Festival - Jordan, Karama Beirut HRFF, Red Carpet Festival Karama-Palestine, Karama HRFF, Sudan Independent Film Festival-Sudan, Human Screen Festival -Karama Tunisia, Bidayyat for Audio Visual Arts-Syria, The White Nights Film Festival-Morocco, Umam for Documentation and Research Lebanon, SEMAT Production Egypt, “ Erato” Human Rights Film Festival-Libya, Action 216 Tunis, Umam Human Rights Film Festival - Mauritania.
This year Ma3mal612 and Karama HRFF will host the 9th annual meeting of ANHAR, as well as the ANHAR Award dedicated to the best Human Rights Film for the year amongst the films nominated by the network members.
