Karama Human Rights Film Festival, Palestine

Believing in the essence of the meaning of ''dignity'', and in the importance of its promotion through every possible way, it was necessary to contribute to the enrichment of existing momentum of more than sixty years of relevant effots acknowledged, through the establishment of the ''Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Palestine'' as Palestine is recognized both regonally and internationally, as the address for a continuous struggle to defend human dignity and rights.
The first edition of ''Karam HRFF in Palestine'' comes to build on the intensive and valuable, life and professional, experience of Palestinian people and many local and international human rights and development organizations, and in order to expand the geographical outreach of Karama as an independent public Human Rights platform for cultural exchange between members of the community and with filmmakers, artists, activists and many other stakeholders.
Under the framework of the ''Arab Human Rights Film Network'', established during Karama 2011, Karama Palestina was created through the joint effort and partnership between Ma3mal 612 and Ashtar Theater for Production and Training in Ramallah. Ashtar is know to be one of the most active organizations managing and producing artistic and cultural projects that involve human rights and justice issues.
Ashtar has taken forward the work load of preparing and supervising the implementation of ''Karama HRFF in Palestina'' between the 14th and 19th of December 2013. The festival is organized in Ramallah, Gaza, Jerusalem, Hebron and Nablus to include the screening of 25 films selected from 600 (received through 'Karama 2013 call for films) as well as other activities.
Through its first edition and the ones to come, the founding and organizing partners of 'Karama in Palestine' aim at providing an open sphere for local and international cultural and right-based organizations and activists eager to establish a human culture that contributes to making 'Palestine the poeple' and their strugle for achieving their rights, closer to the world; to re-positioning Palestine as one of the vanguard countries incubating people's struggle for their freedom, rights and dignity.
