Cinema In Refuge

Cinema in Refuge is a traveling mini film festival that focuses on screenings films that are geared towards human rights aimed at refugees in camps. The name of the festival "Cinema in Refuge" compliments the general state of refugees; fleeing towards a space that resonates hope and fosters creativity.

Ma3mal 612 has held 2 editions of Cinema in Refuge, by utilizing its rich content in the form of film packages from Karama human rights festival in both Jordan and Lebanon. The third edition is set to take place in late September of 2017 in several refugee camps and clusters across Lebanon.

By holding these outreach screenings, a focus on advocating for human rights issues would be a priority. The CIR film package, which includes a selection of carefully curated films, is used as a source for the content of these screenings. Moreover, as organizers, we invite a number of directors and specialists to hold discussion with the audiences so as to gear post-screening discussions to a constructive place where viewers can freely express themselves and release their sentiments and thoughts in a safe environment.
