Karama HRFF 7th Edition





The 7th edition of Karama is the fruit of the experience gained through 6 previous years, reaching 48000 spectators at all the activities, and achieving 292 screenings in Amman, and 56 screening within the outreach program. In this edition 44 films will be screened under the theme of ‘Are you a human being?’ As well as other cultural and artistic activities.
At the Royal Cultural Center, the festival commenced on Dec 5th with the opening ceremony being at 6:00 PM and starting with an art exhibition titled “Conscience of Art” by photo journalist Raphael Yaghoub Zadeh. At 7:00 PM, the speeches by Karama founders and team were given, followed by a musical intermission by artist Macadi Nahhas, and Swiss trio Abaad at 8:00 PM. Shortly thereafter, the opening film Clash by Egyptian director Mohammad Diab was screened with the presence of one of the leading actors Tarek Abdelaziz.
The festival continued until December 10th where screenings of fiction animation and documentaries took place, in addition to the main Karama concert by Cuban chelist Ana Carla Maza, as well as a panel discussion on community radios in Jordan as well as two Q&A sessions with french photo journalist Raphael and two workshops supported by IMS (International media support) on incorporating sound in documentary films. Moreover, screenings took place in Irbid and several universaties and schools and cultural centers across jordan as part of Karama's Outreach Program.
